My name is Alison – welcome to my food blog.
Food doesn’t have to cost the earth to be delicious but it is nearly always better when it is freshly cooked. By fresh I mean meals that aren’t pre-packaged and full of unhealthy additives – there is so much evidence that ultra processed food is very bad for us. Try reading Ultra Processed People by Chris van Tulleken and it’s a fair bet you want won’t to eat ultra processed food ever again!
A key part of the way I cook is to use up leftovers and ingredients I already have in stock, avoiding waste as much as possible. This means I often go with the flow with food prep, rather than looking for elaborate recipes. I live on my own (although like cooking for other people!) so I’m always thinking ahead about how to squeeze more than one meal from the same cooking session. I like to freeze food and enjoy batch cooking.
I hope you like the recipes – let me know what you think of them, I love getting comments on the blog. Do you have a cheap, fresh and easy recipe I can try? Let me know and I’ll feature it on the site and link back to you.
